I heard from one of my colleagues that a floating bookstore was docked at HarbourFront over this weekend. So, being the curious me, I told the Boy about it, and we decided to just head down and check it out, after finding out that the ship's name was Doulos.
We decided to head there after having lunch at Vivocity, only to find out later that despite the hot weather, there was actually a pretty long queue forming up! (I guess everyone else was as curious as us, haha)...

Anyway while waiting, I decided to just take a few quick snaps of the ship with my puny camera...
Thankfully, we didn't have to wait very long, and before we knew it, it was time to climb up the 'steep' steps of the walkway and get ourselves up the ship. I was lucky in the fact that I decided to google about the ship before heading down, hence finding out that the steps to the ship were quite difficult from someone's blog, and that it was better if I had worn flats instead of heels.
It was very interesting to be on board Doulos, as we can both can a glimpse of how it was like to be living on board the ship. While the crew provided a tour, we decided to skip it and just head straight to the bookstore.
With it being a missionary organisation, it was no surprise that they sold quite a number of Christian books. But there was also no lack of other genres, which saw me quickly indulging in the food section.
(I recently have been going crazy over books once again (that will be another entry on its own). And with me being keen on getting my hands down on new recipes to try out in the near future, or when I am married
(ahem ahem), I did not mind purchasing any recipe books which I thought might be interesting).
Trivia: In the floating bookstore, books for sale are priced in units. For Singapore, the 'exchange rate was 25 units = SGD$1.
I got Party Food by Linda Doeser in the end, and with the book costing 200 units, I paid only SGD$8 for it. This got me really happy in the end because to me, it was such a steal! (At least in my opinion).
After enjoying my time at the bookstore, it was time for more photo taking sessions. A view of the cruise ship from Doulos...
When it came to us wanting to take a couple picture on board Doulos, we were met with much difficulty. Firstly, the sun was too bright at that time, resulting in us looking all tiny-eyed. Secondly, there were many people walking about, so it was not easy trying to get a decent picture with the ship as our background, minus all those people.
But, after much perseverance and multiple trial-and-errors, we finally got it! Say cheese (with big eyes)! =D
